Check out these soil mixes from UC Riverside for more info:
http://agops.ucr.edu/pdfs/soil_mix_recipes.pdfFred Hoffmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00501190876515519882noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7073336228735412825.post-14907603421773985032011-09-27T10:07:48.292-07:002011-09-27T10:07:48.292-07:00The best compost is the compost you make yourself....The best compost is the compost you make yourself. I am wary of bagged compost products, because you can't see if it is truly "finely screened". You should not be able to recognize any of the original ingredients when you buy compost. Also, be wary of compost from municipal recycling centers. lawn grasses that were treated with post emergent weed control products sometimes take two years to break down. Organic compost is your best bet when buying it. Also, do a ph test (cheap, easy) of any compost before you buy it in bulk.Fred Hoffmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00501190876515519882noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7073336228735412825.post-39000620813697581682011-09-26T19:21:50.829-07:002011-09-26T19:21:50.829-07:00Why are you citing all these different mixes and n...Why are you citing all these different mixes and not citing and/or using UC mixes... especially those cited that raise the pH?

CHEERSAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7073336228735412825.post-20591897446645657672011-09-26T16:18:36.684-07:002011-09-26T16:18:36.684-07:00I have question on The Rodale Instute Mix (organic...I have question on The Rodale Instute Mix (organic):
Finely screened compost 4 parts
Peat Moss 2 parts
Perlite 1 part
Vermiculite 1 part

Should I buy COmpost from store like Home Depot they sell compost blend for about $ 1.05 / bag ?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7073336228735412825.post-8267592791592735882011-09-26T15:46:37.187-07:002011-09-26T15:46:37.187-07:00If it works for you, fine!
